League Format and Rules
the basics
Game Rules
- Each game consists of 2 players per team (4 players total)
- Team partners face each other from opposite boards
- Play starts at either board with all eight bags
- Each team plays with a set of 4 bags (each of their own color)
- Opponents alternate turns until all 8 bags have been thrown. The round is then scored (see scoring)
Players cannot cross the foul line when throwing. The foul line is an imaginary line extending from the front of the boards.
- After scoring the round, play resumes from the opposite board, with the scoring team from the prior round throwing first
Scoring
- Games are played to 21. The first team to reach 21 points or over wins!
- 1 point is earned for each bag on the board. If any part of the bag is touching the ground, it does not count as a point. If a bag touches the ground before landing on the board, it does not count as a point and must be removed from the board before play resumes.
- 3 points is earned for each bag that goes completely through the hole.
- The score for each round is determined using cancelation scoring. Whichever team scores more points at the end of the round earns the difference between their total points and their opponents. If both teams score the same amount of points the round is “a wash” and no points are awarded. Play resumes with the team who more recently scored points throwing first in the next round.
